Highland Associates Responds to the Recent Flooding

The residents of Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania experienced flooding in record proportions last week.  In some areas flood waters exceeded those recorded by Hurricane Agnes which struck the area in 1972.  Many of Highland Associates employees, family members and friends have had significant damage done to their homes, properties and businesses, and the effort needed to clean up and replace items is enormous.

Highland Associates principals have generously donated $5000, on behalf of the company, to The Salvation Army and The Red Cross.  Additionally, Highland Associates became aware of a family from Duryea who was displaced due to the flood.  Coordination efforts began and several Highland principals provided the funds necessary for the family to stay at a local extended stay suite for the next six nights.  The family, which consists of 3 elderly sisters (ages 71, 79 and 81) and a special needs son in his 40’s, are now able to stay together, which was very important to them. They are extremely grateful, and now have a comfortable place to sleep for the next week until FEMA can come in and assist them.  They had no family to turn to for help.

Highland Associates employees have formed a committee to gather donations of all kinds, including: Monetary Donations, Non-perishable Foods, New Undergarments and Socks, Children’s toys, Clothing, Diapers and Wipes, Pet Food, Toiletries, Linens, Winter Wear, Shoes, House Wares, or anything that would help address these families basic needs.

Any Highland employees interested in making a donation can contact Ronda Beemer at 570-586-4334 or rbeemer@ha-pa.com .  Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity!
