Highland Associates was commissioned to design a new regional office for Xerox and provided full architectural and
engineering design services for this program. The space was selected after detailed analysis and assessment of
technical, design, cost and business issues for eight buildings in New York City. The building consisted of 100,000
square feet on three upper floors for office space with 20,000 square feet at ground level being used for a
"Virtual" showroom. The program called for consolidation of several Xerox Offices throughout New York City
with a mix of high end executive offices and conference spaces, high technology back office spaces supporting marketing,
and technology areas.
A cylindrical shaped atrium links the three floors and consists of a curved open air stainless steel
stairway and is unified with a unique design feature of a thirty foot tall red lacquered digital Xerox "X" inlaid
into the curved Anigre wood paneled wall behind the stairway.
