Highland Associates provided full Architectural / Engineering services for this facility. The Youth center was designed
as a single story, 48 bed secured detention / pre-adjudication facility. The facility was designed for a future 12 bed
unit.
The facility includes a vehicle sally port, medical ward, classrooms, staff training/lounge & locker suite,
multi-purpose/dining area, kitchen, gymnasium, shop and administrative suite.
A secured exterior courtyard is located within the center of the building. Family visitation and counseling was also
accommodated.
The detention and security requirements comply with PA Dept. of Welfare and National guidelines set by Standards
for Juvenile Detention Systems.
