The new Career Center at Honesdale High School grew out of the need to replace the traditional vocational program with
a multi-disciplinary experience. The high tech center brings together technology education and art education to prepare
students for careers in culinary arts, human development, industrial arts, interior design, and fine arts. The center
houses state of the art Technology Labs (Wood, Metal, Power, and Drafting) as well as two Food Labs, a Human Development
Center, Pottery Studio, Photography Studio, Art Studios, and Graphic Arts Studio.
Drawing on its technology and school experience, Highland Associates' team of architects, interior designers, and
engineers designed a 22,300 square foot, approximately $3.3 million addition and renovation that melds with the context
of the existing school. Also included in the High School Project was a 2 story classroom addition over an existing LGI area.
The Honesdale High School Career Center and Classroom Additions opened in the Fall of 2004. Final construction cost was
$4,653,000, $350,000 under budget.
