
The Scranton School District determined in 1995 that the District needed a new High School. The site selected is located
adjacent to the District's Football and Track and Field Stadium. The Campus houses 1,800 students and is to accommodate
grades 9 through 12.
Features of the 45 acre site include athletic fields for baseball, soccer, softball, a utility field and tennis courts.
Parking is provided for over 400 automobiles. The total project cost was $4 million under budget, and was completed for
the fall of the 2001 school year.
The completed facility includes 46 general classrooms, 10 specialized classrooms for science, business, art and drama,
8 special education classrooms, 22 labs for science, business, computer, language, family consumer science, photography
and computer design and drafting, a music suite including band, orchestra, and choral rooms and an electronic keyboard
lab, a television studio, 2 industrial arts shops and a technical education lab, athletic facilities including a
gymnasium with 2000 spectator seats, auxiliary gym, wrestling room, weight room, swimming pool, 6 locker and team rooms,
a library with an adjacent networked media distribution center, a cafeteria to seat 600 students, faculty dining area,
and complete administrative, faculty and staff support spaces including instructional planning centers,administration,
guidance and health suites.
