The new facility is a 57,000 s.f., two-story, free standing Rehabilitation Hospital located in Tinton Falls, New Jersey. The building contains 60 beds, a Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Wing, along with a full service Kitchen and Cafeteria.
Highland Associates was commissioned to do mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, electrical and structural engineering services. This facility was built on a green field site; however, being so close to the ocean the soil condition was very poor. This required the building foundation system to be designed as a wood pile system. The mechanical and electrical plant consisted of a gas-fired hot water boiler plant, direct expansion rooftop ventilation units, packaged terminal air conditioning units and a complete DDC System. New electric, natural gas, and domestic water services were brought to the building. The electrical system included a new emergency generator, normal power, lighting, fire alarm, security and nurse call systems. The plumbing systems consisted of domestic water, sanitary, medical gases, vacuum, and oxygen services. The fire protection system was a wet pipe system with a electric fire pump.
The project construction cost was $9 million dollars The project was reviewed by the NJDCA, local Township Code Officials, and the Tinton Falls Fire Marshall.
