Mercy Hospital's expanding involvement in Heart Care made it necessary to expand its existing Radiology Services. The Specials Lab located within the recently completed Ambulatory Service Building, was created to support this service.
The Lab was constructed in existing space making it necessary to relocate and redefine square footage to accommodate the Lab. The 1,000 s.f. Lab was constructed for $200,000 and within a one week frame for design & construction.
The project entailed engineering services for the conversion of existing office space in a Cardiac Cath Laboratory and support facilities, a new Cath Lab, Control Room, Recovery, etc. In total, 2,900 square feet were constructed during the first phase of the project. A new 1,000 square foot addition was constructed for a future Cath lab and Control Room.
The Mechanical and Electrical systems were designed for the immediate 2,900 square feet and also to incorporate the future 1,000 square feet. The project was completed and opened on schedule. The future construction began immediately following Phase I completion. The facility has been in operation since September, 1998.
