Rehab Unit
In conjunction with Allied Services, Moses Taylor Hospital renovated 11,250 s.f. of its facility to accommodate an
In-Patient Rehab Unit. The 14 bed unit was "fast tracked" and constructed in two phases. The patient side
was completed in two months and the unit was opened utilizing services from other parts of the hospital. The remaining
spaces were completed in 1 1/2 months for a total project duration of 3 1/2 months from design start.
The unit reflects a residential design attitude in order to create a "spa" like atmosphere.
Construction Cost: $1.8 million dollars.
Patient Focus
In response to patient care concerns, Moses Taylor decided to convert its existing patient units to a Patient Focused
Unit.
The plan was to bring the staff and services closer to the patients. To this end, patient supply stations, on floor
patient registration and nurses' stations were reworked to better accommodate this philosophy. Larger Nurses' Stations
were replaced with smaller units supporting a smaller number of patients. The Reception Area will act as a Patient
Administration and Consultation Area.
The design created a feeling of openness and staff presence. A new Patient Lounge was added to encourage patient
interaction.
The 20,000 sf. facility accommodates 36 beds and was constructed in phases so as not to disrupt current operations.
Construction Cost: $1.1 million dollars.
