Highland Associates designed the new 7,000 square feet office and showroom for Mundi Westport, a major handbag and leather manufacturer. The plan included an 100 foot curved wall encompassing a break room, boardrooms, and office space, juxtaposed with a glass wall, running the length of the space. The glass wall divides the space while allowing the necessary transparency to appreciate the sweep of pre-war, street facing windows.
Highland’s design clad the 100 foot long, 10 foot high curved wall in leather. The leather wall is accentuated by a lighting system placed within a cove ceiling creating a “halo” above the leather which reflects off the Terrazzo flooring. A Green gloss wall emerges from the leather panels and continues down the corridor. This shade of grass green is consistent throughout the furnishings and finishes within the showroom suites and office space. A decorative panel designed to simulate “grass” separates the showrooms from the office space.
The natural leather-sculptured wall contrasts beautifully against the hi-tech metal and glass wall of the showrooms. Highland Associates skillfully balanced form and function in this showroom interior. |
