Carlstadt Data Center
Project Type: Mission Critical
Location: Carlstadt, NJ
Services: MEP Engineering, Architecture
Size: 250,000 SF
Highland Associates was commissioned to design a new Tier-3 Plus Data Center in New Jersey. It houses up to 140,000 square feet of Tier 3+ Data Center raised floor area and a small office area of approximately 10,000 square feet. An addition to the building was required in order to house the mechanical and electrical infrastructure. The design criteria is based on supporting the data center raised floor areas at 75 W/sf initial average load density expandable in the future to 100 W/sf. The data center air conditioning and power distribution will be capable of supporting a maximum of 125 W/sf in any area of the data center provided that the average load density does not exceed the limits above. New redundant electrical utility services derived from separate utility substations and routed via diverse paths were brought to the site and new mechanical and electrical infrastructure systems housed in compartmentalized equipment rooms were constructed to meet the redundancy, concurrent maintainability and fault tolerance requirements of the new Tier 3+ Data Center.
Our services began with developing the criteria and included Due Diligence for multiple sites in New Jersey. Subsequently, we have provided full MEP Engineering Design services and have served as the lead consultant on this project.
