Elementary School Improvements
Highland Associates designed a dynamic Outdoor Learning Lab that enriches hands-on, experiential education. Key features include:
Outdoor Amphitheater—Thoughtfully integrated into the site’s natural slope, the amphitheater offers a flexible venue for instruction, presentations, and community events.
Bioswale for Student Experiments—A functional landscape element that supports environmental education and water-management learning.
Laminated Timber Pavilion—An open-air structure that provides additional instructional space while demonstrating principles of sustainability and water harvesting.
Gardening & Agricultural Area—A space dedicated to cultivating agricultural skills and promoting student engagement with nature.
Outdoor learning environments grew in popularity during the COVID era, and this project embraces their proven benefits including improved focus, enhanced well-being, and enriched hands-on learning experiences making them a lasting educational resource. A new, fully accessible playground was also added, offering a state-of-the-art recreational space designed to be inclusive for all students and the wider community.
Campus-Wide Outdoor Pavilions
Two additional outdoor pavilions were constructed adjacent to both the Elementary School and High School. These structures extend the District’s commitment to outdoor learning, providing flexible, open-air spaces where students and teachers can gather, collaborate, and enjoy a seamless connection between education and the natural environment.
High School Enhancements
At the High School, project improvements included:
Renovation of the Wellness Center
